Taipei Higher School, officially named the Taiwan Governor-General's Office Higher School (臺灣總督府臺北高等學校), was a unique and crucial educational institution during the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan. In its short 20-year history, it served as a key school for nurturing top talent and preparing students for imperial Japanese universities. Since this is my father's alma mater, I tried to put some info here in case oneday someone might be interested in. I'll do Chinese first and maybe English later.
「台北高校」，全名為「臺灣總督府臺北高等學校」，是日治時期臺灣教育體系中一座極為特殊且重要的學校。它在短短二十多年的歷史中，扮演了培育頂尖菁英、銜接帝國大學的關鍵角色。
歷史背景與特色
創立與定位： 台北高校創立於大正十一年（1922年），是當時全臺灣唯一的「舊制高校」。這種學制是為升學日本各帝國大學而設計的，其畢業生原則上可以免試直升日本東京帝大、京都帝大等知名學府。
菁英教育： 由於是臺灣島內唯一的升學管道，入學競爭極其激烈，能夠考上台北高校的學生被視為「菁英中的菁英」，這也使得該校的校友成為戰後臺灣社會領導階層的重要來源。
校園文化： 台北高校以其獨特的「自由自治」校風聞名，學生在學術與生活上都享有較高的自主權，這與當時中學嚴格的軍事化管理形成鮮明對比。
戰後轉變
隨著第二次世界大戰結束，國民政府接收臺灣，日治時期的學制也隨之改變。1945年，台北高校被改制為「臺灣省立臺北高級中學」。可是台北高校根本不是高中。1949 年，台北高級中學停辦。今日，位於臺北市和平東路上的國立臺灣師範大學本部校區，正是昔日台北高校的舊址。其原有的行政大樓、講堂等建築物，也被列為臺北市定古蹟。
